“I have no idea what’s awaiting me, or what will happen when this all ends. For the moment I know this: there are sick people and they need curing.”
― Albert Camus, The Plague

This has been a dream of mine for over 37 years. A dream that no one regardless of race or socioeconomic status will not be afforded equal access to treatment, that no one will be denied access to the promise and hope of recovery. We can no longer tolerate societal indifference nor ignore the suffering and death that is disintegrating our communities.

Enso Recovery applauds Sheriff King of York County for his courage and compassion and his willingness to join us in introducing a new paradigm. It is our hope that one-day no one suffering from substance use disorder will be left behind to rot in jail or to die alone.

ENSO Recovery and York County jail to launch MAT Program

The York County Jail will begin using medication-assisted treatment to help a small group of inmates struggling with substance misuse disorder. The hope is the program will become a model for other Maine jails.

“The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths.” ~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
